Checking your pH Levels

Many new swimming pool owners mistakenly think that they can simply throw a few swimming pool chlorine tablets into the swimming pool and be ready to swim.  Unfortunately, it isn’t that simple.  When using these tablets, the pool owner must make sure that he or she maintains the proper pH levels.  In case you are wondering, the pH level is the amount of acidity or basicity of a solution.  If the pool owner raises the pH level too high, the chlorine will sting a swimmer’s eyes.  If the pH level is too low, the chlorine tablets will not be able to effectively eliminate the bacteria, resulting in an unhygienic situation.
